Description

Grows to a height of 0.4m.

Carex comans Bronze, also known as New Zealand Hairy Sedge, is a graceful ornamental grass native to New Zealand. It forms a low, cascading mound of narrowly linear, reddish-brown leaves, growing to about 40 cm tall and 40 cm across.

This versatile plant thrives in full sun but tolerates partial shade. It prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soils but is adaptable to various conditions. Carex comans Bronze is notably wind-tolerant and hardy, though it doesn't cope well with excessive winter wet.

Its attractive bronze foliage makes it an excellent choice for various landscaping applications. It's particularly effective in mass plantings, as border edging, in rock gardens, or near water features where its reflection enhances its visual appeal. The plant also performs well in containers, adding texture and character to mixed plantings.

Carex comans Bronze is ideal for low-maintenance city and courtyard gardens. When planted en masse or combined with other grasses of varying colors and textures, it can create a stunning, natural tussock land appearance. Its adaptability and visual interest make it a popular choice for both small-scale garden accents and larger landscape designs.
